The first working day, Thursday May 24, will be dedicated to the leading theme, with participation of members of two major European networks working on this topic: the European Epidermal Barrier Research Network (E²BRN, http://e2brn.org/ ) and the COST Skin Barrier in Atopic Diseases (SkinBAD, http://www.skinbad.eu/ ).
Prof. Gopinathan Mennon (New York) will give an invited lecture on " Comparative morphology of the epidermal barrier ".
In the evening, you'll be able to continue discussions in a more friendly setting of a typical Lyonese restaurant belonging to what is called "the heart of the French kitchen".
We shall continue on the second day, Friday May 25 with other related topics, including a session of the Skin Pathology Club. The Invited lecture will be given by Prof. Jean Kanitakis (Lyon) on "Reflectance Confocal Microscopy in vivo: another way to explore normal and diseased skin".
Venue of the meeting: International Agency for Research on Cancer, 150, cours A. Thomas, 6003 Lyon (IARC, http://www.iarc.fr/ ).
Lunches on Thursday and Friday will be served in the skytop restaurant of the meeting venue. The meeting registration fees will include the cost for the lunches and the Gala dinner on Thursday evening.
Lyon is centrally located and easily accessed via Saint-Exupéry International airport and with high-speed train (TGV) from Paris.
Participants should take care of their travel plans and hotel accomodation.
We suggest hotels in the city centre (only 10 min. away from the meeting venue by metro line D) or within walking distance (close to the birthplace of the Lumière's brothers, inventors of cinema : http://www.institut-lumiere.org/english/frames.html ).
Also, we strongly suggest you stayed over the week-end. There are many places to visit and things to see and to do in France's second largest agglomeration and its region ! We'll be happy to provide you with further information (http://www.lyon.fr/page/websites-in-english-about-lyon-france.html ).
